Introduction

Motorists who want to convert their foreign car and motorcycle driving licences to Singapore Driving Licence must pass the Basic Theory Test conducted by the Traffic Police.

Singaporeans holding a foreign driving licence must produce documentary proof of six months continuous stay in the country where the foreign driving licence was issued.

It is a requirement for a foreign licence holder to pass the Basic Theory Test before applying for the conversion of driving licence at any of the driving test centre.

For conversion case, if you have been issued a new identification number (from FIN to NRIC) before or after you have booked a test date, you are required to update the changes with the Traffic Police Testing Section and the driving school before the test date. Otherwise you will be disqualified from taking your test.

Course Objectives

The Basic Theory Course is conducted for motorists to prepare them for their Basic Theory Test.

Course Documents

• Must be 18 years old (based on date of birth)
• NRIC / Passport
• Employment Pass, Work Permit, Student Pass, Dependent Pass (For foreigner)

Course Duration

• One session of theoretical lesson of 100 minutes.
• English and Mandarin courses are available.
• Theory lessons are held in classrooms at level 4.

Course Fee

Course Package fees:  $129.34, includes :

• S$98.10 (Inclusive of GST) for 6 months account and one (01) Theory lesson
• S$6.50 (Inclusive of GST) – Basic Theory Test fee
• S$2.94 (Inclusive of GST) – Test Administration Fee
• S$21.80 (Inclusive of GST) – Four (04) Theory Trial Tests (computerised Mock Test/ Practice sessions)
• S$9.81 (Inclusive of GST) – Course Auto-renewal Fee
• S$5.45 (Inclusive of GST) – Course Auto-maintenance Fee

There will be no refund for cancellation of theory test date.

Postponement/Withdrawal/Transfer/Refund

• SSDC will not allow any postponement, withdrawal, transfer or refund of course.If you are interested to enrol in the above course, please be present in person at SSDC during our operation hours.

Important note

• Enrolment is available at SSDC Service Centre.
• Theory Trial Tests that were paid for as part of the package cannot be refunded.
• Account will closed automatically upon passing Basic Theory Test (BTT).
• Book only one Basic Theory Test (BTT) date across all test centres, multiple bookings will be cancelled with no refund. Test fees shall be forfeited.
• There shall be no refund of all test fees cancelled/absence. You may book retest 24 hours later after cancellation or missed test. Postponement, withdrawal, transfer or refund of the course is prohibited.
• If you have been issued a new NRIC No. from Foreign Identification No. before or after you booked a test date, you must update the changes with the Traffic Police Testing Section and with us before the test date. Otherwise, you will be disqualified from taking your test.

Protect Our Staff From Abuse

Our staff have the right to work in a safe environment like everyone else.

Any person guilty of using any threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour which results in harassment, alarm or distress shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $5,000 under the Protection from Harassment Act 2014.

SSDC may terminate or suspend the Learner’s enrolment with SSDC at any time at SSDC’s sole discretion if the Learner is in material breach of the Terms & Condition and/or display unreasonable or abusive behavior towards SSDC’s instructors and/ staff.
