Classification of Class 2B Motor Vehicles
  • Motorcycles not exceeding 200cc
  • The Class 2B riding course is valid for 1 year from the date of enrolment.
  • All student (70 years of age and below) will be insured with a personal accident insurance for a period of one year (non – renewable)
Enrolment Pre-requisite
  • 18 years old and above (based on date of birth).
  • Enrol in person or online.
  • Pass both eyesight and colour blindness test at our service counter.
  • Physically and mentally fit.
  • Must not accumulate more than 12 demerit points under the Driver Improvement Points System (DIPS).
  • Must not have any class(es) of Qualified Driving Licence / Provisional Driving Licence under revocation, disqualification or suspension.

Important Note
  • If you have any serious traffic offences pending against you, you are advised not to apply for a licence. This is because if you are eventually disqualified by court from holding or obtaining a driving licence, the disqualification could be for all classes of driving licence including any newly acquired licence.
  • If you have been awarded more than 12 demerit points, or have cases pending against you which will make you liable to be awarded a total of more than 12 demerit points, you will not be allowed to take a theory / practical driving test.
  • New driver who has two cases of not displaying distinguishing mark (triangular sign) against them, whether the cases are concluded or otherwise, will not be allowed to take a theory / practical driving test.

For Theory Lesson 1 to 4

Classroom Theory Lesson

Classroom learning provides students the opportunity to focus on essential road safety as well as face to face interactions with our instructors. The lessons equip students with safe driving knowledge that will benefit them lifelong.

Booking of classroom theory lessons can be done Online:

  • There is a total of 7 theory lessons consisting of 4 riding theory and 3 defensive theory lessons.
  • The duration of each classroom theory lesson is 100 minutes.
  • Lessons are conducted in English or Mandarin at SSDC Level 4 Classroom.
  • Student must complete the Riding Theory Lesson 1 to 4 first before they are allowed to book for Defensive Theory Lesson.
  • Defensive Theory Lesson 5 to 7 must be paid after you have obtained your PDL. The 3 defensive theory lessons need to be completed before you finish your practical on-road final assessment.
  • Booking is required when attending the theory lesson in the classroom.
  • Booking and Cancellation of the theory lesson can be made online.
  • Cancellation of theory lesson must be made at least 48 hours in advance prior to lesson start time.
  • All theory lessons must be completed before applying for the Traffic Police theory test.
  • Be punctual and bring along your student record booklet for recording of attendance.
  • It is compulsory to attend all the 7 theory lessons.
Defensive Theory Lesson 7 – Risk Forecast Training
  • This interactive risk forecast training is a computer-based training system that provides realistic environment on actual traffic situations allowing the learners to anticipate and forecast different dangerous situations and to take precautions to prevent accident.
  • Lesson 7 is no longer a walk-in classroom lesson.
  • You are required to book for this lesson online.
Theory Trial Test (TTT)
  • The Computerised Theory Trial Test (TTT) is our mock test to evaluate whether students are ready to sit for the actual Traffic Police theory test.
  • Booking of TTT is required and can be made online. Each session costs $5.40
  • Students must complete Theory Lesson 1 to 4 before they are allowed to book a TTT.
  • Each student can hold a maximum of 4 valid TTT bookings at any one time. Students have to attend at least two TTT (Practice mode) and must pass the TTT (Test mode) before they are allowed to book the Traffic Police Basic/Riding Theory Test.
  • It is important to have enough TTT practice before attempting the Traffic Police theory test as the waiting period for a retest could be up to two months.
  • TTT passed result is valid for 30 days. Students need to book for the Traffic Police theory test before the TTT passed result expires.
  • Students will be required to produce a booking receipt and training record booklet when attending the TTT Classroom at Level 4.
  • No refund of fees if you are absent from the TTT due to any reason whatsoever.
  • Cancellation of booking must be made at least 24 hours in advance.
Traffic Police Theory Test
  • Basic Theory Test will be exempted if you already possess a Class 3/3A Qualified Driving Licence (Please inform our counter staff during enrolment)
  • Please be punctual and report to the Theory Test Room (SSDC Woodlands Level 1) 15 minutes prior to your theory test start time.
  • When attending the Traffic Police theory test, students must produce a valid Singapore NRIC or Passport. Foreigners must produce a valid FIN Card.
  • No refund for cancellation of Traffic Police theory test.
  • No multiple bookings of test date across any test centres is allowed. Any multiple bookings of test will be cancelled and no refund of fees will be made.
  • The Basic Theory Test (BTT) result does not have any expiry date unless your Qualified Driving Licence (QDL) has been revoked.
  • The Riding Theory Test (RTT) result is valid for one year from the date of passing. Students need to book the Traffic Police Practical Test before the RTT expires.

From Traffic Police’s Online Learning Portal, Basic Driving Theory Handbook is available in 4 languages (English, Chinese, Malay and Tamil) and Riding Theory Handbook is available in English only.

Simulator Lesson
  • The duration of each lesson is about 20 minutes.
  • Lessons are available in English and will be conducted at Level 4 Simulator Room.
  • Booking of simulator lessons can be made online or at our service counters.
  • Students will be able to book the simulator lessons upon completion of Practical Lesson 4.
  • Students have to complete all 3 modules of simulator lesson in order to book for the Traffic Police Practical Test.
  • Please be punctual as students who are late or unable to complete the lesson will be required to repeat the lesson.
  • There will be no refund or replacement for the incomplete simulator lesson.
  • Cancellation of simulator lessons can be made online or at our service counters. It must be made at least 48 hours before the scheduled lesson start time. If the simulator lesson falls on the day after a Public Holiday or SSDC rest day, cancellation must be made at least 72 hours in advance.
  • If a student does not feel well during the lesson, please press the ā€œEmergency Stopā€ button to stop the simulator and seek assistance from the instructor.
  • Medical certificate will not be accepted for refund or late cancellation of lessons.
  • No refund of fees if you are absent due to medical condition or any reason whatsoever.
  • Pregnant students are required to produce a letter of certification from their doctor/gynaecologist stating that they are FIT to attend the simulator lesson. The letter has to be submitted to the instructor before each lesson begins.
Practical Lesson
  • Practical riding lessons can be booked at the counter, or through the internet.
  • Training is conducted at SSDC Woodlands Circuit and the duration of each practical lesson is 100 minutes.
  • A minimum of 8 practical lessons is required.
  • Student may be required to attend more than the minimum number of practical lessons required for the circuit and on road training if the minimum standard has not been attained.
  • On the average, a student has to attend 15 sessions of practical lesson for the circuit training and 6 sessions of practical lesson for the on road training.
  • Student is required to bring along your student training record booklet for every practical lesson. A valid Provisional Driving Licence (PDL) must be produced for every on practical lesson otherwise no training will be conducted.
  • Student must complete the circuit and on road practical assessment, attended all 7 theoretical lessons, possess a valid Riding Theory test result slip and Provisional Driving Licence before they are allowed to book for the Traffic Police Practical Test.
  • Cancellation of practical riding lesson appointments can be made from the self service kiosks or through the internet. It must be made at least 72 hours in advance from the time of your practical lesson appointment. If your practical riding lesson falls after a Public Holiday or SSDC rest days, cancellation must be made at least 96 hours in advance.
  • When a cancellation is less than 72 hours, the student will use the try sell (for sale) list to put up the slot for try sell and to monitor the status of the try sell. If the try sell is successful, the practical lesson is cancelled and the amount credited back to the student accounts. If the try sell is unsuccessful, the student is required to attend the practical riding lesson, otherwise the booking will be invalid.
  • Medical certificate will not be accepted for refund or late cancellation of practical riding lesson.
Practical Test
  • Student is advised to attend circuit and on road revision practical lesson before their practical test.
  • Student is encouraged to attend the pre-test (Warm Up) practise before the practical test.
  • Student must produce NRIC or Passport, a valid Provisional Driving Licence, student training record booklet and practical test payment receipt when attending the practical test.
  • Please be punctual. Late comers will not be allowed to sit for their practical test.
  • It is compulsory to book for one on road revision practical lesson when applying for the practical re-test.
  • Student will be disqualified from the practical test is found to possessed more than one practical test date.
  • There will be NO REFUND (inclusive of vehicle rental) for cancellation of practical test date
  • For the safety of test candidates and other circuit / road users, all practical driving / riding tests will be discontinued in the event that the test candidate:i. Accumulates 20 or more demerit points or;
    ii. Commits an immediate failure checklist item (e.g. mounting of kerb)

Digital Photograph

A designated photo booth at SSDC, level 3, will be used to capture your digital photograph; this digital photograph will be printed on your QDL. A fee of S$6.48 is payable for the digital photograph-taking service.

Qualified Driving Licence (QDL) Application

Upon passing their practical test, learners must attend and complete the Expressway Familiarise Rider training programme before applying for a Class 2B licence. All Singapore citizens, permanent residents, and foreigners holding valid work pass issued by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) or Student/ Long-Term Visit pass issued by the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) can apply for a new QDL online via Police Website or the Police@SG mobile application.

The application fee for the new QDL is S$50, payment by eNETS or credit card. The licence card will be mailed to you within 7 working days upon successful application.

Additional Class of Licence

Existing QDL holders do not need to apply for a new QDL when they pass another class of driving test; the Driving Tester will affix an endorsement sticker to the back of their existing photo-card driving licence free of charge. They may obtain the endorsement sticker at Traffic Police HQ if the sticker has been detached from your QDL or is defaced/ torn. The new endorsement sticker is also free of charge.

Qualified Driving Licence Replacement

Singapore citizens and permanent residents can apply to replace their lost or damaged QDL online, while none Singaporean or permanent resident will apply in person at Traffic Police Headquarters. A fee of $25 applies; the receipt serves as your temporary driving licence. Your replacement QDL will be mailed to you within 7 working days upon successful application. Your existing photograph in Traffic Policeā€™s database will be retrieved and printed on your replacement QDL.

Any person guilty of using any threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour which results in harassment, alarm or distress shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $5,000 under the Protection from Harassment Act 2014.

SSDC may terminate or suspend the Learner’s enrolment with SSDC at any time at SSDC’s sole discretion if the Learner is in material breach of the Terms & Condition and/or display unreasonable or abusive behavior towards SSDC’s instructors and/ staff.
