Classification of Class 3 Motor Vehicles

Motor cars =<3000 kg with =<7 passengers, exclusive of the driver and Motor Tractors/Vehicles =<2500 kg.

Classification of Class 3A Motor Vehicles Licence

Motor cars without clutch pedals =<3000 kg with =<7 passengers, exclusive of the driver and Motor Tractors/Vehicles without clutch pedals =<2500 kg.

Licence Conversion for Foreigners – Class 3C

Foreigners who wish to covert their Foreign Driving Licence to Singapore Driving Licence may be granted Class 3C driving licence upon passing the Basic Theory Test. Class 3C licence holders are allowed to drive non-commercial motorcar only. If you wish to drive light good vehicles, mini vans and small buses, you should enrol this course to obtain Class 3 driving licence.

Class 3 (For Class 3C licence holder) – Express Course

Upon passing Traffic Police Driving Test, you will be issued with Class 3 driving licence which will allow you to drive all types of Class 3/3A vehicles that include light good vehicles, mini vans and small buses.

Enrolment Pre-requisite
  • 18 years old and above (based on date of birth).
  • Enrol in person and pass both eyesight, colour blindness test.
  • Physically and mentally fit.
  • Must not accumulate more than 12 demerit points under the Driver Improvement Points System (DIPS).
  • Must not have any class (es) of Qualified Driving Licence / Provisional Driving Licence under revocation, disqualification or suspension.
Enrolment Documents (In Person)
  • Valid Class 3C Qualified Driving Licence.
  • Valid S Pass/ Work Permit (For Foreigners).
Important Note
  • If you have any serious traffic offences pending against you, you are advised not to apply for a licence. This is because if you are eventually disqualified by court from holding or obtaining a driving licence, the disqualification could be for all classes of driving licence including any newly acquired licence.
  • If you have been awarded more than 12 demerit points, or have cases pending against you which will make you liable to be awarded a total of more than 12 demerit points, you will not be allowed to take a practical driving test.
  • New driver who has two cases of not displaying distinguishing mark (triangular sign) against them, whether the cases are concluded or otherwise, will not be allowed to take a practical driving test.
  • For foreigners who have been issued
    with a new identification number (from FIN to NRIC) before or after you have booked a test date, you are required to update the changes with the Traffic Police Testing Section and the driving school before the test date. Otherwise you will be disqualified from taking your test.

Remarks

Theory Lesson

One Defensive theory lesson is applicable to this course.

Basic and Final Driving Theory Handbooks are now available in 4 languages (English, Chinese, Malay and Tamil) from Traffic Police’s Online Learning Portal.

  3. Select “Basic and Final Driving Theory Handbooks” and your preferred language.
  4. Start learning the pdf versions of the handbooks.
Simulator Lesson
  • Students must complete simulator lesson Module 1 to 3.
  • Each lesson consists of one (1) module and last about 20 minutes.
  • Lesson is available in English and will be conducted at Level 4, Simulator Room B & C.
  • You can start to book your simulator lesson after you have completed Subject 8 of the training programme. Each booking must be 1 day (24 hours) interval.
  • Please be punctual. Latecomers are considered absent and are required to rebook the lesson.
  • Change of car transmission model i.e. from manual transmission to automatic transmission or vice versa, student must retake all the 3 Modules.
Situational Based Simulator Lesson
  • Students must complete Situational Based Simulator Lesson.
  • Each lesson consists of three (3) modules and lasts about 50 minutes.
  • Lesson is available in English, Mandarin, Malay, Tamil and Bengali, and will be conducted at Level 4 Simulator Room C
  • You can start to book your Situational-Based Simulator (SBS) after you have completed Subject 5 of the training programme.
Important Note
  • Please be punctual. If you are late and unable to complete the lesson, you are required to repeat the lesson.
  • Online cancellation or over the counter is allowed at least 48 hours before the scheduled time. If the lessons fall the day after a Public Holiday or SSDC rest day, cancellation must be completed at least 72 hours a day after a Public Holiday or SSDC rest day, cancellation must be completed at least 72 before the scheduled time.
  • If you are not feeling well during the simulator lesson you may seek assistance from the staff in duty.
  • If you are not feeling well during the simulator lesson you may seek assistance from the staff in duty.
  • Pregnant students are required to produce a letter of certification from their doctor/gynaecologist stating that they are FIT to attend the simulator lesson. The letter is to be submitted to the instructor before lesson begins.
Practical Lesson
  • The validity of your Provisional Driving Licence (PDL) must be updated in our system before you can book your practical driving lesson at the counter.
  • The duration of each practical lesson is 100 minutes.
  • Student is required to attend a minimum of 12 practical lessons and complete 34 subjects of the driving course.
  • Student may have to attend more than the average number of required practical lessons if the minimum standard has not been met.
  • Student can book for a fixed instructor (FIS) to coach them. A fixed instructor surcharge of S$13.08 per session will be charged for each fixed instructor booking. In the event that the fixed instructor is not allocated for their practical lesson, the student will continue their practical lesson with another instructor and the surcharge will be refunded back to the student balance.
  • Student is required to bring along the student training record booklet for every practical lesson. A valid Provisional Driving Licence (PDL) must be produced for every practical lesson in the circuit or road. No training or refund is allowed if you are unable to produce a valid PDL.
  • Student must complete the theory lesson, the final practical assessment, all 3 simulator modules and possess a valid Provisional Driving Licence (PDL) before they are allowed to book for the Traffic Police Practical Test.
  • Cancellation of practical lesson appointments can only be made over the counter. It must be made at least 72 hours before the scheduled start time. If your practical driving lesson falls on the day after a Public Holiday or SSDC rest day, cancellation must be made at least 96 hours in advance.
  • For any cancellation less than 72 hours prior to lesson start time, student will have the option to put up the slot for try sell. If the try sell is successful, the practical lesson will be cancelled and refunded back to the student balance. If the try sell is unsuccessful, student are required to attend the practical lesson.
  • Try sell of practical lesson appointments can only be made over the counter.
  • Medical certificate will not be accepted for refund or late cancellation of practical driving lesson.
  • Pregnant student are required to produce a letter of certification from their doctor/gynaecologist stating that they are FIT to attend practical training including emergency brake. Please bring along the letter of certification from the doctor/gynaecologist on every practical lesson.
  • No Cancellation/Trysell of Public Holiday Practical Lesson is allowed.
Practical Test
  • Student are encouraged to attend revision practical lesson before their practical test.
  • When attending Traffic Police Practical Test, student must produce a valid Singapore NRIC or Passport, a valid Provisional Driving Licence (PDL), student training record booklet and practical test payment receipt. Foreigners must produce a valid FIN Card such as Work Permit or S Pass.
  • All practical tests are conducted at SSDC Woodlands Circuit.
  • Please be punctual. Late comers will not be allowed to sit for their practical test.
  • No multiple bookings of test date across any test centres is allowed. Any multiple bookings of test will be cancelled and student will be disqualified from the Traffic Police Practical Test.
  • There will be NO REFUND of test fees (inclusive of vehicle rental and warming up fees) for absence or cancellation of Traffic Police Test date due to any reason whatsoever.
  • Pregnant student are required to produce a letter of certification from their doctor/gynaecologist stating that they are FIT to attend the practical lesson and practical test including emergency brake. Please bring along the most recent letter of certification to the Traffic Police Department on the day of your practical test.
  • For the safety of test candidate and other circuit / road users, all practical driving / riding tests will be discontinued in the event that the test candidate.
    1. Accumulates 20 or more demerit points or;
    2. Commits an immediate failure checklist item (e.g. mounting of kerb).

Any person guilty of using any threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour which results in harassment, alarm or distress shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $5,000 under the Protection from Harassment Act 2014.

SSDC may terminate or suspend the Learner’s enrolment with SSDC at any time at SSDC’s sole discretion if the Learner is in material breach of the Terms & Condition and/or display unreasonable or abusive behavior towards SSDC’s instructors and/ staff.
