Singapore Safety Driving Centre (SSDC) has announced the decision to adopt the “Intelligent Driving Circuit (IDC),” a next-generation driver training and testing platform currently under development by Honda.

This system is a groundbreaking solution that utilizes AI and high-precision sensors to automatically assess driving skills with “99.99% accuracy.” This adoption by SSDC marks the first instance in Singapore, and for Honda, it represents the first commercial project to introduce its proprietary IDC system. The system is scheduled to be introduced sequentially at SSDC starting in 2028 for automobiles, motorcycles, and heavy vehicles.
■ What is IDC (Intelligent Driving Circuit)?
The “Digital Revolution” of Driver Training IDC is a system that moves away from subjective testing dependent on the “human eye” to realize “objective and fair evaluation” using AI and digital technology.
Digital Twin: A sensor network embedded in both the course and vehicles captures every behavior—including steering, braking, and safety checks—converting them into data in real time.
AI Automated Assessment: Algorithms trained on the know-how of expert examiners provide immediate pass/fail judgments and improvement feedback. This simultaneously resolves the issue of instructor shortages and standardizes educational quality.
■ Why Honda?
The Challenge to Realize “Zero Traffic Accident Fatalities by 2050” Honda has set a grand global vision: “Zero traffic collision fatalities involving Honda motorcycles and automobiles by 2050.” Moving beyond the framework of a mere mobility manufacturer (OEM), Honda has been engaged in safety driving promotion activities for over half a century. It is precisely this background that enabled the development of IDC, which approaches not only “Vehicle Evolution (Hardware)” but also “Human Evolution (Software).” This adoption serves as a crucial milestone in materializing that vision.
■ The Overwhelming Superiority of Honda IDC Distinguished from systems created by IT vendors, IDC condenses strengths unique to a complete vehicle manufacturer (OEM).
Full Category Support: A single system covers all categories of training, from motorcycles and automobiles to heavy vehicles.
Integrated Vehicle Control: The system deeply integrates with the vehicle’s CAN data (control signals), possessing advanced analytical capabilities that can even detect signs of specific driving behaviors.
Instant Feedback: Immediately after driving, the system visualizes “why points were deducted,” dramatically improving learning efficiency.
■ Future Outlook:
From Singapore to the World Through the operation of this innovative IDC, Honda aims to establish a “New Global Standard” for traffic safety education in Singapore and broadcast this technology to the world. Furthermore, we believe that raising the level of the entire industry is essential to achieving “Vision Zero.” Therefore, our policy is not to monopolize this technology but to aim for its widespread adoption by driving schools and related agencies both domestically and internationally. We are currently planning technology provision and sales to motivated partners and are open to broad discussions.
